The University of New Brunswick and St. Thomas University Preparing for Congress 2011
The University of New Brunswick and St. Thomas University will provide both meeting spaces and accommodations for what is considered as the largest academic conference in Canada. To help manage this prestigious event, both institutions are using Kinetic’s products including KxResidential for operations and KxBnB for online reservations. The project manager for Congress Michelle McNeil said, “Kinetic’s conference and accommodation system has become a vital tool for us especially managing event resources and keeping all the key service providers connected during the pre-planning phases of the conference.”
This year the event marks its 80th anniversary and the theme focuses on Coasts and Continents: Exploring Peoples and Places. Organized by the Canadian Federation for the Humanities and Social Sciences, Congress brings together thousands of scholars, students, practitioners and policy makers in a different city each year to share ideas, discuss today’s complex issues and enrich their research. They gather under the aegis of more than 70 associations representing a rich spectrum of disciplines in the humanities and social sciences. From theatre, literature and education to history, sociology and international development, Congress represents a unique showcase of scholarly excellence, creativity, and leadership.
